Welcome to The Wine Specialist’s new blog, Grapes Hops & Spirits. We are a wine store in DC that also sells wine, beer, spirits, and gift baskets online. Rather than constantly send our customers annoying emails, we started this blog to give people a more varied range of information than our store’s website offers. This blog allows us to share our impressions of the notable wine, beer, and spirits, that pass through our doors.
Our posts include tasting notes and pictures related to the different kinds of potables we sell, with a focus on wine, beer, and spirits as expressions of place and culture. Food and wine lovers are more sophisticated than ever before. We intend to support that sophistication by writing about the provenance of food and wine, or what I call the “back story”. I hope that these “back stories” will encourage you to try some new things as we share tidbits and profiles on each wine. I am also offering menu and food pairing suggestions, entertaining tips, and recipes.
We recognize that times are tough and everyone’s wallet is feeling the pinch of the downturn in the economy. In response, we have created a new category of products called Recession Busters. These are fab wines, beers, and spirits that we highly recommend AND offer great value for less than $15.99 per bottle.
Every Monday we now publish an eNewsletter called Monday’s Quick Sip, that keeps our customers up-to-date with what we are currently tasting along with tasting notes, food and wine pairing suggestions, beer and food pairing ideas, recipes, notices about upcoming tastings, new products, and seasonal/holiday special promotions and sales.
We send out a weekly newsletter every Thursday called The Liquid News. The Liquid News includes some great wine, beer, and spirits recommendations from our staff, tasting notes, food recommendations, and information on producers, regions, varietals, etc.
Thank you for visiting our blog and please sign up to get emails about upcoming tastings, events, and special promotions. Subscribe to our RSS feed to get the latest posts, and sign up to get The Liquid News newsletter.
As they say in Finland–”Kippis!”
